Boeing QF-16 Aerial Target Completes First Pilotless Flightby Staff WritersTyndall AFB FL (SPX) Sep 27, 2013

Boeing has modified six F-16s into the QF-16 configuration.
Boeing and the U.S. Air Force have completed the first unmanned QF-16 Full Scale Aerial Target flight, demonstrating the next generation of combat training and testing.

Two U.S. Air Force test pilots in a ground control station remotely flew the QF-16, which is a retired F-16 jet modified to be an aerial target. The QF-16 mission profile included auto takeoff, a series of simulated maneuvers, supersonic flight, and an auto land, all without a pilot in the cockpit.

"It was a little different to see an F-16 take off without anyone in it, but it was a great flight all the way around," said Lt. Col. Ryan Inman, Commander, 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron.

Craig, good to hear from you. Because it is hard for me to travel distances, I'd vote for Chicago. Downtown is
my preference, but would go with the flow. Hope all is well with you and your family.

I vote yes, we should have a reunion in 2014.  Some of us are retired and on fixed incomes, at least I am.  That being said, I would vote for a less expensive suburban hotel.  Once this is set, I will try to do a better job of getting the "E" side to participate.

Regardless of the outcome of the vote, given enough lead, we should all be able to plan accordingly.  When can we expect our orders?

:-)!

Craig, Thanks for keeping us connected. I’m not too flexible in 2014 so I vote for Chicagoland at some time not near holidays but not in the colder months. S/F George-sends

Yes on the 2014 reunion, I'm bound and determined to make this one!
Home or away I'm fine with either.
If home prefer downtown Chicago
If away my choice would be 1) New Orleans, lots of activity there,   2) Quantico, have not seen the Museum yet, 3) Can we get a group deal on a Princess cruise?, (I know, my idea,  I'll check into this!)

Thanks for getting ball rolling.  Yes we should try to get together - we're not getting younger and Braun and Hill still owe me a beer.  As 2012 was in Chicago, I feel we should move on.  I know we'll lose "some" from local area but if we plan well enough in advance, we should be able to match/or better our performance at NAS Pensacola. Travel and "Our Pull" might be better on East Coast (Quantico) NOT (Lejeune) but I would suggest a look at San Diego/Pendleton before final decision.  I'm in for either given dates.

Exercise for Marines Over 60

MARINE CORPS EXERCISE REGIMEN FOR

I know you need this program.

For those of us over 60 – this is a great exercise regimen – for you young’uns out there (under 60), just keep it in mind until you reach that magic 60 number!

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room on each side.  With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides.  Hold them there as long as you can.  Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.  Each day you'll find that you

can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.  Then try 50-lb potato bags, and then eventually, try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.  (I'm currently at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.
